The Blythswood hotel Glasgow

On Friday night I returned to the motherland (Glasgow) for a night on the tiles. I don’t normally recommend new places in the city but I was plesantly surprised by the Blythswood hotel that it is absolutely worth mentioning.

The hotel used to be the old RAC club and lay empty for a number of years, but after a complete refit by the Edinburgh town house group, it has been restored to its former glory. The hotel has a bar restaurant on the ground floor and another bar on the first floor. The decoration is a mix of 1920′s opulance as well as modern day design.

The food is excellent they have a tapas menu and an a la catre menu, they also have a 2 courses for £15 menu.

BUT the main reason I wanted to write this was because they must be the only place in Glasgow that has a special ice machine that makes circular balls of ice! Being a geek this was a deal breaker for me! (see below)
