During ski holidays, everything centres around winter sports of course, but sometimes it’s also good to spend some time away from the slopes. Après-ski is probably just as important as the size of the ski area when you pick your destination. A livelier resort is more likely to attract skiers and snowboarders from all around the world. Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy… Europe has plenty of famous spots for après-ski evenings that will satisfy every taste. Just because summer is here, that doesn’t mean we can’t plan our next ski holidays!

Austria is the country of après-ski. Parties, nightclubs, festivals, everything is made for you to have as much fun away from the slopes as well as on them. The main resorts offering the crème de la crème of après-ski are without a doubt Mayrhofen and St Anton am Arlberg. Every year, Mayrhofen organises the Snowbombing Festival, where the biggest bands perform in the snow, and attracts party lovers from all over the world. Among the artists who have already played, we count The Prodigy, 2ManyDJs, Fat Boy Slim, Justice and Madness. Nights are warm in Mayrhofen and so are they in St Anton which is considered as one of the best resorts for après-ski. Various bars and clubs will welcome you with a great atmosphere, straight after you have left the slopes.

France is a popular destination for ski holidays. With the Winter X-Games Europe, Tignes is probably one of the top resorts in France: 3 days of Freestyle and music on the slopes. But Tignes is not the only resort offering a great après-ski atmosphere. Avoriaz and the ski area of the Portes du Soleil has plenty of various events throughout the year, such as the Snow Energy festival and Wild Outdoor Music Festival. But après-ski in France is not only partying: it means everything away from slopes: restaurants, spa sessions, swimming, etc. So why not discover different activities while you are on holidays!

Verbier, in Switzerland, is James Blunt’s favourite resort. You will be able to enjoy nice and quiet evenings in different bars, with live music, where international skiers chat together while snowboarders head to Italy for sunny après-ski on terraces.

In Europe, ski holidays are a big deal. All you need to do is to pick your destination based on the ski area, the atmosphere, the range of activities and events organised to be sure to spend the best ski holidays.
