So Much To Do, So Little Time

With so many cheap flights to New York through the likes of DialAFlight at the moment, this Autumn is a great time to head out to the Big Apple. Obviously you need to book ahead to make the most of the deals on offer, but once you’ve done that, you’ve got plenty of time to plan. So draw up Google Maps, and get plotting your route around the city.

Must See Sights:

Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Coney Island, and the World Trade Center Memorial – all of these have to be on the list, but they’ve already been discussed forever, so we’ll leave them there for the moment.

Pizza:
Chicago Town vs New York Style pizzas, only one way of settling that debate. There are some great pizzerias around New York, Spring Street is a fantastic place to start your search, or, if you should happen to be in Brooklyn, try out Grimaldi’s.

More Big Buildings:

30 Rockefeller Plaza has just opened a new observation desk called: “Top of the Rock”, it offers an amazing view of the city, and is great for injecting a bit of romance into your trip.

Another option is Carnegie Hall, which has an amazing collection of great restaurants (though be prepared to pay for it). There’s also a great museum, a first class gift shop, and, of course, the concert hall for which Carnegie Hall is famous.

Art:
The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers one of the best collections of fine art anywhere in the world. The building is enormous though, so it’s best to pick a section to explore rather than trying to do the whole thing in one go.

Of a slightly different nature is Madame Tussauds, anyone familiar with the London version of the world’s most famous Wax Museum knows exactly what to expect, but it’s still a tourist hotspot.

Famous Free Stuff:
It doesn’t get much more famous than Times Square, of course. Often described as the beating heart of New York, it’s an amazing place to visit and is particularly fantastic at night when the free-spirited energy of New York is fully on display.

And of course, last, but never least, Central Park. There’s a lot to see and do in Central Park throughout the year, like the Film Festival, or sleigh rides in the snow. No visit to New York is complete without a trip to Central Park and, of course, it’s completely free.
