Holidays in Protaras Cyprus

When it comes to family holidays there really are so many options. With more and more countries being regularly explored now by families you may find that the usual holiday haunts are becoming more and more overcrowded. If you are looking for somewhere a little different and perhaps more laidback than some of the more popular tourist haunts then why not consider Protaras.

Located on the east coast of Cyprus about 9 miles north of Ayia Napa Protaras is a laidback, relaxing destination for a family holiday. If you prefer to relax on the beach rather than party the night away then Protaras is ideal for you. Located just one hour from Larnaca airport Protaras is conveniently located to allow you and your family to be enjoying your holiday in next to no time.

Protaras is blessed with around 10 miles of beautiful, golden, sandy beaches that allow you enjoy turquoise warm water. The water here is clean, safe and perfect for water sports too. With numerous activities on offer including water skiing, jet skiing, snorkelling, diving, water boarding and lots of boat trips available too. There is also a water park here if you want to enjoy the water without being in the ocean. This is ideal for children of all ages and adults will have a fantastic time here too. There are lots of rocky inlets around Cape Greko that provide the ideal location for snorkelling and scuba diving too for people of all ages.

While Protaras doesn’t offer the nightlife many Cyprus holidays do you will find lots of bars, discos and restaurants here allowing you to enjoy yourself without holidaying in a place almost solely based on nightlife. If you want to enjoy some local cuisine then there are many traditional tavernas nearby where you can enjoy some local delicacies and sip a delicious cocktail or two.

You will find some fantastic souvenirs of your trip in the local shops with a mix of local Cypriot trinkets and souvenirs sold next to clothing and vintage goods in the modern looking boutiques. There are some delightful local craftspeople here and some of the trinkets are truly one of a kind.

If you head south from Protaras you will find small villages waiting to be explored with wonderful architecture and centuries old history on offer too. There is even a hill just on the outskirts of Protaras with 300 steps that leads to a wonderful church and amazing views of the coastline too.
